思科和中电科软件信息服务有限公司签署了协议,成立合资公司

亲爱的合作伙伴:

今天,我很高兴跟大家分享一个好消息: 思科已经和中国电子科技集团公司(CETC)的控股子公司中电科软件信息服务有限公司签署了协议,成立合资公司。相关新闻稿已经发给了中国的媒体。

新的合资公司将为中国的智能城市和教育、医疗和能源市场等领域的客户,提供有社会价值的技术解决方案,重点关注创新和新产品研发。

该合资公司的成立, 是我们的中国战略的一个重要里程碑。新的合资公司将帮助我们在不断变化的中国市场寻找新的商机。它将研发的公开标准的全新产品,是思科过去没有开拓的范畴,新产品将整合为创新的技术解决方案,服务中国的公共行业和企业项目。

合资公司投资总额2亿美元,其中思科占43%的股权,中电科软件信息服务有限公司占其余57%的股权。合资公司的股东将负责任命合资公司管理团队和董事会的主要成员。同时,我们也通过了一项全面的计划来保护双方的科技和知识产权,并确保运营符合所有相关法律规定,该计划将成为行业的范本。该合资公司研发的所有知识产权都归合资公司所有。

为了支持初创的合资公司,其将会在初期使用自有品牌销售少数目前由思科在华销售的入门级路由器和交换机。长远来说,合资公司将专注于研发新的创新解决方案,并在特定的领域内建立起自己的品牌。

合资公司是一项全新的业务,完全独立于思科中国区的业务,它独立运营,并自行招聘员工, 因此,不会直接影响现有支持我们基础业务的销售架构和合作伙伴的关系。

合资公司重点研发的领域,可能包括智能连接设备和应用。这些设备和应用可以帮助全国的家长,老师和学生利用互动白板,笔记本电脑,平板电脑等设备获取最新的教育资源;这些设备和应用亦可以帮助医生和护士通过现代医疗设施和管理过程,获取最新的信息,以更好的为病人提供服务。

Dear valued partners

I’m pleased to share with you the news that Cisco has entered into an agreement to form a joint venture with China Electronics Software Information Service Co., Ltd, a majority-owned subsidiary of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC). A press release was sent to media outlets in China.

The new joint venture will focus on innovation and new product development to support socially-valuable solutions for smart cities and customers in China in the specific education, healthcare, transportation and energy market segments.

We are excited about reaching this major milestone in the execution of our China strategy as the new joint venture will help us enter into new horizon of transformational business opportunities in China. It will create new, open standards-based products NOT currently offered by Cisco, and use them to create innovative technology solutions for public and private projects in China.

Cisco will hold a 43% stake in the US $200 million joint venture with China Electronics Software Information Service Co., Ltd holding the remaining 57%. We will be appointing the key executives and board members within the joint venture. We have also agreed to a comprehensive plan that will serve as a model for other companies to protect the technology and intellectual property of both organizations, and ensure compliance with all governing laws. All intellectual property developed independently by the joint venture will be owned by the joint venture.

To support the establishment of the joint venture, it will, at the beginning, use its own brand to market a limited set of entry-level routers and switches currently sold by Cisco in China. In the longer term, it will focus on creating new innovative solutions and building its own brand in the target sectors.

The joint venture will be an entirely new business and will operate independently from Cisco China’s business, establishing its own operations and recruiting its own employees. It will have little direct impact on Cisco’s existing sales and partner organization. The joint venture will leverage the network of its Chinese partner to recruit channel partners to support penetration into its target market segments.

Some of the exciting areas the joint venture may focus on include developing smart connectivity devices and applications to help parents, teachers, and students in schools across China connect to the latest education material through interactive whiteboards, laptops, tablets, and other devices. It may also help doctors and nurses provide better patient care by connecting them with up-to-date information through modernized healthcare infrastructure and administration.

We have a long-standing and positive relationship with CETC - a number of its subsidiaries are Cisco’s Gold Partners. We believe this new joint venture will serve the mutual interest of both partners.
